Geneva Wall Mural – Work in Progress

In 2018, Jean was commissioned to paint a full-size wall mural by a bar in Geneva, Switzerland. The idea behind this complex work of art is to recreate famous scenes with well-known faces to depict four different stages of romance. Critical Thinking

In 2018, Jean was also commissioned to paint the portrait of a well-known politician from his home country of Lebanon. A progressive and analytical political man, always looking to make changes and provide support for projects,. Jean wanted to ensure that he captured his character in the portrait and so he worked from a photo he took as he was listening to some proposals being put forward to him.

Porque

Jean painted this very personal work of art in 2017 as a reflection on the mask that we wear at the beginning of any relationship and the search for intimacy to be able to lift that mask and truly connect with one’s lover.

Indulgence

This 2017 painting combines two of Jean’s favourite things – strawberries and chocolate! He happily worked his way through quite a few in order to capture the exact shot he wanted to recreate as a painting.

Out At Sea

Having lived by the sea nearly all his life, Jean has always been inspired by the raw power of the ocean and the mysteries of this force of nature. He wanted to depict the stark beauty of a wave in the storm, at once captivating and terrifying in its absolute power. The strength and beauty of Mother Nature have inspired many of his works of art.

The Night is Ours

This painting is inspired by crazy nights in Jean’s adopted city. He wanted to reflect the vibrant, beating heart of Barcelona nightlife. The sense of going out for a quick drink only to return home as the sun is coming up, having made new friends from all four corners of the globe and feeling on top of the world. That moment in time when the beat of the music is still pulsing through your body, you don’t have a care in the world and there is no yesterday or tomorrow, only the here and now.

Cat’s Eye

It was inevitable that one of Jean’s paintings would feature a cat as protagonist. Having always been a cat-lover and spent most of his life with a feline friend around the home, they’ve been pretty much a constant throughout his life’s journey. He’s always been fascinated by their independent spirit and the relationship between cats and their “owners”– the word is in inverted comments, because does anyone ever really own a cat?

Ephemeral

Another of Jean’s paintings that demonstrates his connection with nature through art. This time he wanted to depict the ephemeral and fragile essence of nature drawing upon a childhood memory of blowing dandelion clocks, along with a vivid recollection of a beautiful butterfly that landed in front of him, spreading its delicate wings under the morning sun. A fleeting glimpse of nature’s perfection.
